Three months after graduating high school, I realized a

childhood dream by entering into a career illustrating

comic books. I got my start in September 1979 assisting

comic book inker Bob Layton as a background artist on

his definitive first run on Iron Man, with writer David

Michelinie and penciler John Romita Jr., for Marvel

Comics.

I have been fortunate throughout my career to have

collaborated with some of the best artists and writers in

the comic book industry and to have worked on many

popular titles for both Marvel and DC Comics. My work on the Superman titles, notably the “Death of Superman” storyline, is among my most recognized, along

with the Spider-Man titles, Thor, The Avengers and West Coast Avengers. I take

pride in having had a versatile career, working primarily as a finish inker, but on occasion provided pencil art, traditional and computer coloring, story development

and plotting.

After more than twenty years in comics, I broadened my professional horizons

by embarking on a second career as a wildlife and nature photographer. I spent

the better part of the early 2000s traveling the United States capturing images

of a variety of wildlife and landscapes. I also spent time photographing local

wildlife and examples of regional folk history, some of which was exhibited by

the Smithsonian Institute.

My photographs have been published in local, state and national magazines.

This eventually led to me writing numerous articles to accompany my wildlife

and nature images for publication in Outdoor Delaware, a magazine published

by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. Unfortunately, as my work began to gain greater national attention, I became frustrated with the growing trend of clients wanting to use my images free of

charge and refocused my attention back to comics.

In 2005, I returned to DC Comics, this time working in their Licensing Department. Then, in 2010, when DC Licensing was closed down, I moved to Warner Brothers Consumer Products where I continue to produce DC related licensing artwork. In 2012 I expanded my skills to include creating children’s books and animated digital

interactive iPad apps featuring Superman and Batman for WB Global Publishing.

Currently, I enjoy working on various comic book related projects, while also venturing into yet another new career path, this time as a voice-over actor. I

continue to look for new and exciting ways to express myself creatively.
